The Digital Nomad FIRE Index 2026

24 of the world's top nomad hubs, ranked by how many years they shave off your path to Financial Independence.

Where you live is one of the biggest levers on how fast you reach Financial Independence. Using live cost-of-living data and the same FI-acceleration model that powers our FI-Score, we ranked 24 curated digital nomad hubs for one typical remote worker — and measured the years of FIRE each city buys back.

Last updated 2026-05-29

How we ranked the hubs

Every hub is scored for the same fixed reference profile: a United States-based remote worker earning $90,000/yr, spending $45,000/yr, with $50,000 already invested. For each city we apply our FI-impact model — the cost-of-living swing versus home (income tax excluded), minus an estimated one-time relocation cost amortized over three years — to compute how many years sooner they reach FI. Hubs are ranked by that FI acceleration. Cost figures are live nomad cost-of-living from our city database; tax and visa indicators are informational bands, not per-passport rulings.
